Tips
for Handpainted Yarn
Handpainted yarns vary in color--even within one hank. To
ensure the best possible use of your yarn, please break larger
hanks into balls and switch off. If you have several small hanks,
it is wise to mix them to achieve the fullest range of color.
Handpainted yarn loves to be knit in the round!
Every effort is made to ensure that the colorway looks like
the sample on the color cards. But again, each hank is painted by
hand and colors may appear brighter or more muted. In order to
avoid striping, we try not to paint discernible repeats in the
yarn. Because of our unique blending techniques, the colors may
not come around the same way in every row.
Please be aware that the same colorway will look different in
various types of yarn. For example: Martha's Vineyard will appear
more muted in silk as opposed to cotton as opposed to wool. This
is because different fibers will absorb dyes at varying rates.
Some fibers resist dye, others grab it.
Dyelots are small and not always easy to match. Please be sure that whatever yarn you choose is enough to complete your project.
Return Policy: We do not accept returns. All sales are final because we
are an online store only, we do not stock a large quantity of these yarns and
cannot accept returns.
