Dear Fiber Fanatics of All Kinds:
Spring has sprung in the Northeast Kingdom
of Vermont! Actually, we must endure “Mud Season” first, a
challenging time of year when our roads become quagmires and
every trip to the grocery store can be an adventure. It is
not uncommon to see farm tractors pulling the neighbor’s car
down the road. The roads themselves have a mind and
personality of their own, randomly throwing each car in a
different direction as the ruts become deeper with each
passing vehicle. Soon all will be green and we will rejoice
again in living in this beautiful corner of the world!
It’s been a busy winter at Handpaint Heaven and Cherry Tree
Hill Yarn and we have a lot of new developments to share
with you.
Supersock Design Contest
The 2007 design contest is underway, but there is still
plenty of time to join! The contest features all three kinds
of Supersock: Solids, Potlucks and colorways. Supersock DK
is not included, unfortunately. Cherry Tree
Hill is looking for large, multidirectional garments knit
from any kind of Supersock - in fact, they would love to see
solids mixed with colorways and/or potlucks mixed together.
They especially want to see large capes, coats, jackets,
tunic tops and dresses, but are open to other garments.

Handpaint Heaven
155 Main Street
Barton, VT 05822 First prize is $1,000.00 plus
they will replace the yarn used!
Second, third and fourth place cash prizes will also be
awarded, based on originality and creativity. Please use at
least 6 hanks of Supersock. We need the completed garment by
June 1st and if your garment is one of the 10 finalists, we
would like to see the pattern by June 10th.
New Colorway

Misty Moor is inspired by the moors of
Scotland where our UK distributor Gill Alexander
honeymooned. The colors of morning mists settling over the
moors evoke a timeless sense of romance. We hope you enjoy
this pleasurable blend of moss and mist, in shadows of blues
and purples. Now available in all yarns! Shown left to right
in: North Country Cotton, Mohair Thick N Thin, Baby Sachet,
Jumbo Loop, Sachet, Alpine Baby and Supersock.
New Yarn

Supersock DK: It’s finally here! Supersock DK is a new DK
weight 100% Superwash merino Supersock yarn and replaces
both the Superwash DK and the Super Glitz. It comes in
4oz/340 yd hanks for $22.00. It is available in all
colorways and is featured in Cheryl Potter’s newest book,
Special Little Knits from Just One Skein. In addition,
we have 3 new sock patterns that use only one hank of this
yarn;
Cabled DK Sock,
Lace DK Sock, and
Simple Supersock DK. If you have a sock pattern for Cherry Tree Hill to
consider, send it to us! Shown at right in Indian Summer.
